Geometry Stand Alone Instructional Resource
Through the kiosk mode in Microsoft Powerpoint, I created a stand alone resource for 3rd grade students about geometry. Students are able to receive immediate feedback to questions that are asked throughout the presentation and be re-directed to a slide if they answer incorrectly. In my instructional resource I used sounds, images, animations, and links. After completing my resource I shared it on the MERLOT website, which is a website to share multimedia educational resources for learning and online teaching.

Digital SlideshowI used iMovie to create a digital slideshow sharing and reflecting on a lesson I taught on adjectives. Before creating this, I had never used iMovie before. I found it pretty simple to learn and use to create my slideshow. Since this project I have used it a few other times and keep improving on my skills. In this slideshow I used images, voice recording, and music to engage my viewers. After creating it I uploaded it to youtube to share my work with others.

Course ModuleThis is the 6 week long course I created for 5th graders on fractions. I used Haiku to create my course. It features screencasts, videos, images, discussion boards, quizzes, polls, and a calendar. I was able to incorporate so many of the Web 2.0 technologies I had learned so far in my courses. I have to admit, when I first found out I had to create an online course I was quite nervous. I thought it was going to be a lot of work and hard to do. After I started creating my course I was relieved to find out it was not so bad and I actually really enjoyed it.

Wikispaces ProjectI used Wikispaces a few different times in my courses. This is an example of the one I created with a group. It is an informational resource teaching ways to use the iPad2 in the classroom. The focus is on how to help students with conditions impeding their ability to learn. We used links, images, and text to complete the site. Not only did I get the experience with using Wikispaces again, but I was able to explore all the great applications there are for the iPad. Even though our focus was on students with conditions impeding their ability to learn, such as autism, I also learned about ways to use iPads in general education.

Global Warming PodcastThroughout my MAET courses I created many podcasts using Garageband. I struggled with podcasting at first and had to re-record many times. As I used it more I became better at recording myself and if I made a mistake was able to just re-record certain parts. Even though I am more comfortable now than I was in the beginning, I still have much to learn and improve on.
This is the interview I did asking adults what they know about global warming. In addition to the podcast I used images and music to make it more appealing. This also made it possible to upload it to youtube. |
Web 2.0 Tools
BlogBy creating this professional technology blog I am able to share my technology experiences in education with other educators. This is the first blog I have created, but would love to use blogs in my classroom. They are very easy to use and a great way to communicate to parents or as a class.

Prezi PresentationThis is a Prezi presentation I created on Haittie's 6 Factors Influencing Student Achievement. By using Prezi, I was able to use images and paths to create a lively presentation. Before creating this Prezi presentation I had created one other one. The first time I used the tool, I found it tricky, but when I made this one it was a little bit less complicated. This is promising to me because as I work more and more with the tool it should become easier, which will allow me to experiment with new things to add to the presentation.

Group Leadership Project
Prezi Presentation |
My group used Prezi and Jing to create our final group leadership project. By using screencasts we were able to teach the material in a very visual manner and by using paths in Prezi we were able to create a powerful presentation. This was the first time I used Prezi, and I have to admit I found it challenging. I was lucky that I had my group members to help me and learn with me. Our presentation was broken up into parts, so I only had to focus on one part to create the presentation. This made it less intimidating and, once my part was done, I was able to learn from my group members presentations of the other three parts. We chose to use screencasts to present the project, which was something I had used many times in my previous courses, so I felt very comfortable doing this. Lastly, we added some sound effects to add another element to our presentation.
